All things considered I'm never been a crochet person, but then I came across Gretel Creations and instantly my superior cuteness alarm sounded. These amigurumi masterpieces have some kick ass quality to them. It takes serious guts to attempt a crochet E.T. but Tami, the mastermind behind Gretel Creations pulls it off flawlessly.

Crochet amigurumi E.T.

Amigurumi by the way is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.  Amigurumi are typically animals, but can include artistic renderings or inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features, as is typical in Japanese culture.

Here are two more awesome creations that I just love: the little green bookworm with glasses and the sleeping baby hedgehog. Ok I admit this later is a case of gratuitous cuteness on a grand scale,  the human mind is wired to react to its adorable features. Resistance is futile.

I would contact Tami from Gretel Creations on her facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/g.c.handmadewithlove The E.T. was a custom order, but maybe Tami is willing to make an other one. I think it is definitely worth the try :)
